Blog Switch

Hey people. I haven't made any posts on this blog for awhile. Just letting you know that I'm doing all my blogging over at the LOTF Blog. Thanks.

Vic Chesnutt Is Gone

That's right. Vic Chesnutt died today. Wikipedia him if you want to, because I'm not writing a eulogy.

In happier news, Thee Silver Mount Zion Memorial Orchestra is an awesome band (on Chesnutt's label). Listen to their new song "Bury 3 Dynamos."

Yeah dude

Studio Day One

Today I recorded the guitars for a few songs for Sideways Hat in the room above my friend Ford's garage. It sounds good so far.

New, Exciting, Whatever

Hey there this is Will.

Exams are over and now it's time for me to record at my buddy Ford (otherwise known as Secretly Stranger from the February 09 Sampler)'s house. I'm going in there to get The Felts' first record done for real this time. It will probably take forever, because my friends Jarrett and Robert (who'll be providing violin and drums) aren't too familiar with the songs at this point. Just a heads up on that coming out.

If It Weren't For You I'd Be Wearing A Sideways Hat Right NowImmediately after I finish that one, I'm going to try and get The Felts second record recorded. That should take a lot shorter of a time because it's simpler and shorter in length.

There Is No Balance

Then after that I'll probably have finished full length #3, entitled Brother. In fact, I'll probably finish that one in the next few days. It doesn't have art yet.

Also, we at LOTF are proud to welcome a new band: The Mittens. It's me and Juleon and Ford, who I mentioned a few paragraphs ago. We have a few songs, but nothing has been recorded.

Also, be on the lookout for The Ergs! cover band that Juleon and I will be in that will be playing at WonderRoot on January 10th or something, at Pop Punk Cover Band Night.

New Manchester Orchestra Video

Kind of new, at least. I'm proud to say they are an Atlanta band, and I "lolled heartily" as my friend known as Mythical Dre/Tha MC Drayton might have said, at the video.

It wouldn't let me embed, so here's the YouTube link.

This Is Kind Of Cool

Jay Reatard is not cool--there's no doubt about that--but you should watch this thing because it is cool. It's some session that Pitchfork recorded in some basement. This was before his backing band left. Man, good luck finding other somewhat fat guys with big hair and little to no musical inclination, just like yourself.

I'm Not A Hipster, But...

This is seriously one of the greatest artistic pieces of film that has come out in the last few months, at least. Have yall ever tried to make a clay-mation? It's hard.

Listening: "Isla de Encanta" by Pixies, and anything from Come On Pilgrim

1. Get Money
2. Get Paid

Review of Lil Wayne's new mixtape, No Cielings:
It was disappointing, but not as disappointing as I had thought it would be, so I guess it wasn't disappointing in that respect. Also I don't like Lil Wayne and don't care about this record, so there's some perspective on that review.
Rating: Lame

Review of Weezer's new record, Raditude
Best part: the cover. Next best part: the title. There were like three good songs, but they really strayed from the big guitars and powerful vocals, which is what I look for in Weezer.
Rating: Disappointing

Also listening to Don't Wake Me Up by The Microphones...
...Milo Goes to College, of course...

...and The Good Times In Country Music, which is an old Johhny Cash and other stuff vinyl-only compilation that I got at a garage sale. I couldn't find a picture of it.
